| That sounds tedious. At least you get to pick the book. We did something like that in English, but not as intense. We had to translate a scene from Julius Caesar from Shakespearean English to modern-day English, and then present in front of the class. It was fun. Do you have to translate tEoTW from Bulgarian to English, or vice versa, or some other language? | |

| Oh my gosh. I would NOT have that much concentration. I think I'd be done after about the first 10 or so. | |

| I'm listening to the audiobook and marking where I'm at in the paperback edition. I have now translated 150 pages. Should be done pretty soon. | |

| I can't wait for my Spanish class next year. There's only going to be about 5 kids in my class, and small classes are awesome! We're going to learn a lot. | |

| Oh, wish I could say the same about my German class....14 students. That's madness. But we're going to be a lot less in American Lit next year..just 6. So great. Finally moving at quicker pace.

| wow, that is a lot. we had a big class for Spanish because there was only one Spanish 2 class, and last year there were two Spanish 1 classes, so everyone from both Spanish 1 classes was in the same class, basically. | |

| Well, I've been in English classes for about 11 years and in German classes for about 7 years. I also had a few years of French and Russian. My Spanish isn't that good, I'm afraid. That's why I'm aiming for English and German. | |

| woah. we don't have any language classes at all until high school, and even then we only have Spanish. Sometimes kids can get into French through other schools, but not often. So, yeah, we're stuck with Spanish, and most kids don't really want to learn it; they just want the credits. | |

| I can tell you for a fact that the Spanish, Italian and French boys and girls in 12th grade are no where near the English level of, say, a kid in 6th grade in Bulgaria. That's just how it is. They think their language is the most important and that they shouln't even bother with foreign languages. So, you can see why you have to study Spanish: because when/if you go there, they won't be able to talk to you in English (and because ther is Latin America). | |

| there are actually quite a few Spanish speakers right in our school. sometimes we go and do activities with the small children who are native speakers. we try to read them books and make them giggle with our mistakes, or we have them read to us in Spanish and laugh at our amazed looks. it's the greatest! | |

| I was talking about the kids in Spain. I know that in the US allmost everyone who can speak Spanish knows English too. But things are quite different in Spain. I know it for a fact. I've been there before I learned some Spanish. | |

| Yes, most of the Spanish-speakers here speak English, unless they've just come here. I imagine it would be different in Spain. I mean, most people don't see the point of learning a foreign language unless they want to travel. Here, though, it's wise to take Spanish because there ARE a lot of native Spanish-speakers around here, and a lot of jobs are requiring being able to speak English and Spanish. | |

| Everything has a practical side...that's why I had to study allmost all the European languages. It is fun when you get used to it...but sometimes I switch from one language to another. It gets confusing at times. | |

| That sounds really fun. my two language classes are my favorite. I wish my school offered more, but they can barely afford to pay the teachers we have. There has to be some way to learn a language outside of school. You've inspired me. Maybe I'll go look that up. | |
